This phrase is commonly used to bully and undermine people who behave or dress “differently” from “normal” people in our society. 

This project captures the deeply personal connotations of the phrase. For the subject, Mohamed, it unearths conflicting emotions and traumas of upbringing “The way I dress has always played a significant role in my gender expression and self perception. Clothing is fashion and fashion doesn’t need to be gendered. They are not mutually exclusive.“
